Hello, I’m Shichinomiya-san (@shichinomiya_s).
In this article, I’ll share how I replaced the battery in my Braun shaver, complete with images.
I noticed there weren’t many articles about this replacement process, so I hope this helps.
Model
Braun Series 5 (around 2020 model?)
Since the shape and indicator light positions haven’t changed even in the latest 2026 models, you should be able to follow the same procedure.

What You’ll Need
– T6, T8 Star Torx Screwdrivers
These are needed to disassemble the unit. If you don’t have them, it’s convenient to have a driver set like the one below – you’ll use it for life.

– 14500 Lithium-Ion Battery
Note: This is NOT a standard AA battery. Regular AA rechargeable batteries won’t work either. Make sure to use a “14500” type battery.

Let’s Disassemble
First, remove the shaver blade section.

Next, push the rubber cover at the red circled area from behind using any stick-like object.

Any screwdriver will work for this, as shown in the image.

This will expose the screw. Grab the rubber and remove the screw using a T8 driver.

The image only shows the left side, but do the same on the right side. Remove a total of 2 screws.

Next, there’s a screw at the bottom where the charger plugs in. Remove this with a T8 driver as well.

Once all screws are removed, hold the unit as shown and slide the bottom part downward with your thumb.

This will allow you to remove the back cover like this.

The battery is now visible. However, it’s still inside a waterproof cover, so we need to remove that.

Remove the screws at the top. The yellow marked area uses T6, while the others use T8.

Once the screws are removed, grab the head section and pull. You should be able to pull it out as shown.

Now it’s completely removed from the cover! Time for the battery replacement.

The battery inside is a “UR14500AC” – a Panasonic battery.
(If you look closely, you can see “SANYO” written on it…)

Replace this with a new 14500 battery. It’s just like replacing a regular AA battery.
In this image, insert it so the positive (+) terminal is on the left side.

The replacement is complete. Now just reassemble by following the steps in reverse order.

Important Note for Testing
There seems to be a safety feature – after battery replacement, you need to connect the AC adapter briefly to power it on.
You might think you broke something, but don’t panic – just plug in the AC adapter for a moment.
Charge it for a bit, and if it works normally, the replacement is complete! Good job!
Final Thoughts
After replacing the battery, the shaver seems to run a bit better than before.
Also, I used to need to charge it every time I shaved, but now the battery lasts over 2 weeks. I’m glad I did the replacement.
This Braun series has an annoying design that doesn’t allow you to use it while charging, so the only option is to extend its life by replacing the battery like this. (At least it’s considerate that the battery isn’t soldered in.)
By the way, I also use Chinese compatible replacement blades. They cost just over 1,000 yen and work perfectly, which is great.

With regular battery replacements and Chinese compatible replacement blades like this, this shaver could easily last over 10 years.
Honestly, I don’t want to spend money on shavers, so I plan to take good care of it like this.
