I recently received a YAMAHA PAS CITY-S (PM27CS) electric bicycle from a family member.
It’s over 10 years old with deterioration in various areas. During a test ride it got a flat tire, which led to me disassembling the bike — so here’s a record of the process.
Being able to remove the front wheel enables tire/tube replacement and speed sensor replacement.
*Note: I’m not particularly knowledgeable about bicycles. Before receiving this one, I rode maybe once a year at most.

Tools Needed
– Flathead screwdriver
– 14mm wrench
I use the set below. It covers pretty much everything and is incredibly handy. Go ahead and grab one.

Removal Steps
Remove the nut covers on the front wheel. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the gap of the cover and pry it off using leverage.
With the cover removed, you’ll see the nut. Use a 14mm wrench to turn it counterclockwise.
Once the nut is off, the other components will come loose too. Keep them safe. (Washers love to disappear, so watch out.)
Remove the parts hooked onto the axle. They’re simply hooked on, so they come off easily.
With all hooked parts removed, the front wheel lifts right out. You’re done!
Summary
With the front wheel removed, you can easily perform tube replacements for flat tires.
In my case, the speed sensor’s plastic housing had cracked from age, so I performed a replacement.
The process is identical to most other bicycles and quite simple, yet I found surprisingly little documentation online — hence this guide.
Being able to swap tubes means you can DIY flat tire repairs instead of visiting a bike shop!
